Ocean Nova & Ventura

It's not the day to come to Guernsey without a plan. The sun is not shining, it's raining,it's misty, all the shops are shut in town as it is Sunday, and it's not a day to wander the lanes of St Peter Port. With a plan of  what to do, the bad weather will fade into the background and Guernsey will "shine". It did not shine too much for these fisherman at the end of the Castle Breakwater, just after sunrise,  as the Ventura comes up to the pilot station.

The Ocean Nova arrived before the Ventura from Cherbourg and on the closer anchorage to the harbour giving the guests a shorter tender ride. Brehon Tower is in the background, scene of a "friendly fire" incident from the occupying forces over 70 years ago. The liner was built in 1992 and with her ice-strengthened hull, carrying only 84 guests, is a ideal liner for those who wish to visit the small ports and places of interest. She is due to visit Sark and Alderney on this cruise.

The Ventura did not stay long before deciding it was too rough for tender operations. She left Southampton last night and after keeping Ocean Nova company for a short while left for Zeebruge where her guests will enjoy their tours of Bruges.
